Sometimes it's the struggles that make us realize how good we have it.
Yesterday, I spent 8 hours on the Memorial Day holiday cutting and pasting bus routes together and typing in route times so drivers and parents would be ready for the first day of Summer School. I had expected to spend no more than two hours on this task. However, my routing software was acting up and no one was in their office due to the holiday. Needless to say, it was frustrating.
Looking back, I realized how blessed I am to not have to do this for every route. This is how we used to do it and it took forever. Now, I can normally type in a few stops and riders, adjust some route lines, and my routes are ready to print. It is that easy.
I realized, after my frustration had subsided, that I really do have it good. A day or two here and there where I struggle reminds me of that.
